Dennis Martin Ottem, age 83, of Baxter, passed away at his home on Thursday, December 27, 2018.

Dennis was born on August 19, 1935 in Columbia Heights to James & Adina (Larson) Ottem. He married the love of his life, Judith Olson on May 15, 1954. He served his county in the US Army as a SGT for two years. Dennis was the Captain of the Fridley Fire Department. After retirement, Judy & Dennis raised cattle, north of Remer for 15 years. Dennis enjoyed fishing.

Left to cherish his memory are his sons: Martin (Kathy) of Madison, WI and Darren (Jennifer) of Ironton; grandson, Steven (Candice) Ottem of Coon Rapids; great grandsons, Konnar and Calvin.

Dennis is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Judy; brother, Jack.

A funeral service remembering Dennis will be held on Wednesday, January 2, 2019, at 11 a.m. at Halvorson Johnson Funeral Home - BRAINERD CHAPEL. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery.
