David W. Resler

David was born in 1916 to Clarence and Louese (Basset) Resler at White Bear Lake, Minn. He married Verna Nicklason in 1939.
David served in the U. S. Navy during World War II from January 1943 through November 1945, serving overseas in the South Pacific. He and his brother, John Resler, owned and operated two hardware stores-one in Remer and one in Hill City. David raised his family on a farm west of Remer for 19 years, then moved to Portage Lake where he lived until his wife died in 1976. He moved to Naples, Fla., where he worked for Maas Brother Department Store until moving back to Remer in 1984 where he built a home on his property at Mabel Lake.
David married Mary Gilmer in 1986. They lived at Mabel Lake during the summer and at Naples, Florida in the winter. In 1993, he built a home on Pokegama Lake and lived there until moving back to Remer in 1997. David was a member of "The Shepherd's Chapel."
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Verna; one brother, Charles Resler; a sister, Ruth Erickson; and a grandson, Mike Resler.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Gilmer, and two sons - Thomas (Judy) Resler, Lone Rock, Wis., William (Susan) Resler, Cumberland City, Tenn., two daughters - Barbara (Eddie) Chenervert, North Branch, Minn., Lois Resler, Westcliffe, Colo.; one brother - John (Virginia) Resler, White Bear Lake; 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren.
Funeral service was held at 2 p.m., on Monday, June 27, at Rowe Funeral Home in Grand Rapids, Minn., with Full Military Honors. Rev. Jay Pepin officiatee. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Longville, at a later date.[[In-content Ad]]
