Darlene was born in 1948 to Nick and Francis (Erchul) in Chisholm, MN. Darlene graduated from Chisholm High School in 1966 and from Bemidji State University in 1970, majoring in business education. Darlene and Terry Mejdrich were united in marriage on December 30, 1970 and made their home near Swatara, MN for 48 years. Darlene taught in Hill City, MN and worked as a substitute teacher for area schools. Terry and Darlene owned and operated a sawmill and farm. Darlene was also employed at Walmart for 23 years.
Darlene was active in her church. She enjoyed playing the piano, quilting, sewing, gardening, and travelling. She volunteered at the Remer Library and was an active member of the Lions Club of Remer. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and family.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Nick and Francis Amato; daughter, Angie Tofflemeyer; three brothers, Joseph Amato, Danny Montgomery, and Mike "Lee" Montgomery.
Darlene is survived by her husband Terry; son Eric (Angela) Mejdrich of Duluth, MN; brother, Robert (Diane) Amato of Chisholm, MN; five grandchildren, Rachael, Nicholas, David Tofflemeyer, and Gaines and Violet Mejdrich; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation was Friday, November 16, 2018 from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at Rowe Funeral Home, Grand Rapids, MN and continued at church on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. until the 11:00 A.M. Funeral Service at the Northland Alliance Church in Remer, MN. Rev. Jason Schafbuch will officiate. Burial will be at Lakeview Cemetery in Smoky Hollow Township, MN.
