Confusing fairness and justice with envy
To the Editor,
The writer confuses fairness and justice with envy. The inference is that the following people are, in his words envious and stupid:
1) Those who, in today's America, work full time and can't see a doctor for preventative health care. Stupid.
2) Those minimum wage earners who cannot rent and pay utilities on an apartment, feed and clothe their family and buy health insurance. They must choose. Stupid
3) Those college graduates that have thousands of dollars in debt and are now not able to find a job in their field or one that would pay enough to repay their debt. Stupid
4) People losing homes due to layoffs, unemployment or underemployment. Stupid
5) Senior citizens who lost their investments due to Wall Street's greed. Stupid
Envious? Stupid ? I don't think so. I think the "Occupy Wall Street" people remind me of those whose protest resulted in; minimum wage, five day work week, overtime, women's suffarage, an end to slavery and many more "Progressive" reforms. Since the writer quoted scripture, he should keep in mind that Jesus threw the moneychangers out of the temple. He was a protester against injustice. This is a nation whose growth has often been due to the brave who march in protest and advocate for a better country. And right now we know that America needs the Wall Street reform that these people seek.[[In-content Ad]]
