Commissioners meet with landowners on landlocked parcel
The board is acting as the town board for the unorganized township in this case.
Mark and Tim Dorholt have purchased three parcels in this area. One is on a public road. The other two do not have access to a public road.
So far, they have been unable to negotiate an easement from neighboring properties to reach their property, according to a letter from their attorney, Andrew Shaw of Deer River. Therefore, he is seeking on their behalf to have the town board exercise a right of eminent domain and declare a cartway to the property.
Neighboring property owners affected include the county, David and Samantha Nikkel and Blandin Corp.
It will be Downham's and Bruns' task to try to find an alternate solution to condemnation and the cartway.
The board voted to authorize Sheriff Tom Burch and Board Chair Jeff Peterson to sign an agreement with Minnesota Department of Public Safety to renew the county's participation through 2019 in Minnesota Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
