Citizens for a Quality Education?
To the Editor,
What do we know about the vote no group "Citizens for a Quality Education"?
Why are they using a recycled name that has been used in many vote no campaigns in other Midwestern schools that have been run by a controversial anti-public education consultant?
Why would a group that calls itself "Citizens for a Quality Education" want to make our kids have longer bus rides, larger class sizes, and attend schools that have lower performance scores according to the MN Report Card (rc.education.state.mn.us )?
Why didn't this group show any interest in the local school prior to the referendum if they are truly concerned about the quality of the education our children receive?
Why would this same group use only select data to make the school look poor on standardized testing when in fact the school was one of the most improved in the state?
Why would they attack long standing members of the community who are serving on the schoolboard and have given so much to the community throughout their lives?
Why do they want to close our school?
Why do they refer to the district as a "vacationland" when so many of us live here, work here, and most importantly raise our families here 365 days a year!
Why do the members of the group not sign their names to the propaganda that they continue to send out?
Why shouldn't our kids get the same opportunities to learn in modern facilities that the kids in neighboring communities, all of which have approved referendums in recent years, currently enjoy?
Why would we outsource the education of our kids to neighboring schools where we will have little say in how they are educated?
There are many more questions to ask and you will all have to make your own decision. We have made our decision, we are going to Vote Yes on November 9th to not only provide our children with a competitive learning environment, but to also tell this group that wants to close our school that we are committed to this area. To tell them that we do not consider this area only a vacationland, but also our home! Most importantly, to tell them that we will decide what is best for the kids in our district! Please join me in voting YES on November 9th![[In-content Ad]]
