REMER - Charles Boyd Nelson, age 60, of Remer, MN, passed away, Sunday, August 3, 2014 at his home. Charles was born in 1954 to John and Ellen Nelson in Grand Rapids, MN. He grew up and attended school in Remer. Charles was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in Germany. He was united in marriage to Elaine Eckman on December 2, 1995 and they made their home in Remer. Charles loved the outdoors, cooking, watching television and sitting on the deck with his family.

Preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers, Marvin and Lewis; two sisters, Jeanette Hall and Anna Cockman.

Charles is survived by his wife, Elaine; five daughters, Melissa (Brian) Fredrickson of Remer, Mary Beth (Jason) Townley of Remer, Michelle Barnett of Remer, Lena Nelson of Forest Lake, MN, and Maria Barnett of Remer; four sons, Chuck (Brenda) Nelson of Burnsville, MN, Vernon (Chris) Wilkenson of Iowa, Gerald (Cassie) Blevins of Minneapolis, MN, and Josh Nelson of Burnsville, MN; one sister, Fern (Kevin) Hanson of Melrose, MN; two brothers, Steven (Ruth) Nelson of Richland, WA and Gene (Ty) Nelson of Grand Rapids, MN; 37 grandchildren; 5-great grandchildren plus one on the way; many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Visitation will be Monday, August 11th from 10 am until the 11 am Funeral Service at Harvest Church of God in Remer, MN. Pastor Jay Pepin and Pastor Bruce Pound will officiate. Burial with full military honors will be in Fairview Cemetery in Remer, MN.
