The Cass Soil and Water Conservation District (Cass SWCD) is currently soliciting names of individuals desiring to be appointed to serve on the Cass SWCD Board of Supervisors. Due to the untimely death of David Harder, Supervisor from District 4 of Cass County, a current vacancy on the SWCD Board was created. Minnesota Statute 103C.305 Subd. 6 states that "If a vacancy occurs, the Board shall fill the vacancy by appointment".

The Cass SWCD Board meets the first Thursday of every month in the Cass County Courthouse Board Room. Working in conjunction with the Cass County Environmental Services Department (ESD), the Cass SWCD is dedicated to assist private landowners, farm producers, lake associations, townships and other constituent groups in implementing conservation practices aimed at controlling soil runoff and erosion, maintaining water quality and conducting proper forest management on private lands. The Board also serves as the Natural Resource Advisory Committee for the Cass County Land Department. Board members meet monthly to approve cost share agreements with landowners and provide input to County Land Department, Forestry, and ESD Natural Resource issues affecting Cass County.
