Cass Land Department easement work, land and timer sales report
Land Commissioner Joshua Stevenson said, if the property owners improve the road to town road standards, the township will then make the road a township road. The county will survey the road.
The road currently is known as Wilderness Drive NE.
Cass commissioners approved selling a parcel of tax forfeit land adjacent to the restored Soo Line depot (community center and city hall) in Remer to the city for $1,100. The city can either retain the property or re-sell it to a commercial developer.
Minnesota's snowmobile trail maintenance grant to Cass County will be $151,632 this years.
The county sold $81,825.62 worth of mixed species timber to loggers, plus $932.38 worth of red pine saw logs at a Sept. 29 auction.
Stevenson obtained board approval to award a contract to the lower of two bidders, Grinning Bear Roll-off Service to inspect two buildings on tax forfeit property in Cass Lake for asbestos and other hazardous materials for $1,275. The board also approved his choice of the lower of two bidders, Freeman Well Drilling, to cap a sand point well on tax forfeited property in Backus after a construction crew discovered it while doing excavation work for the city. Cost was $265.
