Cass Commissioners award air conditioner replacement contract
The bid includes demolishing the old chiller unit.
Marcy Cordova, the new Cass County 4-H program director, informed the board she has begun an effort to improve communication and organization for the county's 4-H program.
She held a recruitment and training program in November for volunteer 4-H leaders and began an effort to enhance and expand the 4-H dog project. She also is working to improve financial reports for 4-H. She has created a spreadsheet for clubs to use to improve their financial reporting.
Carolyn McQueen, Cass County extension Supplemental Nutrition Assistance (SNAP) educator, informed the board about her educational programs.
She has worked with Walker-Hackensack-Akeley and Remer-Longville Schools to help students learn about eating more nutritious foods and will expand that program to Pine River and Pillager Schools in 2013.
She conducted classes in November for Pine River Food Shelf, Pine River and Pillager Women Infant and Children (WIC) participants, May Creek Lodge (senior assisted living) at Walker and for Backus Head Start parents.
Driver Right 365 Education and Advocacy for Life program has donated $1,500 to Cass County Probation Department to be used for $25 gas cards and $10 Subway gift cards as incentives for successful participants in the Wellness Court.
American Legion Post 458 in Boy River donated $100 and Salem Lutheran Church in Longville donated $200 to the veterans transportation program.
