WALKER - Several top Cass County government personnel, including the administrator, have announced plans to retire in 2016.

Cass County Board Tuesday named commissioners to serve on search committees to replace those retiring.

The full board will begin searching for a new county administrator in January to prepare for Administrator Robert Yochum's retirement at year end. The board expects to have a replacement selected by the end of the third quarter of 2016 to train under Yochum in the fourth quarter.

Commissioners Neal Gaalswyk and Dick Downham will serve on a search committee beginning this month for a candidate to hire by March 1 to train under Chief Financial Officer Larry Wolfe before his June 30, 2016, retirement date.

Commissioners Gaalswyk and Jeff Peterson will serve on a committee in mid-2016 to find a replacement for Health, Human and Veterans Services Director Reno Wells, who plans to retire by the end of that year and will train the appointee the last quarter.

Commissioners Bob Kangas and Scott Bruns will serve on a committee to seek applicants the second quarter of 2016 for a replacement for County Engineer David Enblom, who will train his replacement and retire mid-2017.

Also scheduled for retirement mid-2016 will be Melanie Wolfe, who is the HHVS business director, overseeing all financial transactions and records for that department.
