Barbara Jean Loren, 64, of Hackensack, Minnesota passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at the Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine, Minnesota.

Barbara was born May 12, 1947 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Vincent and Lorraine (Manning) Schnickels. She graduated from Spring Lake Park high School in June of 1965 and was married to Roger Loren on July 24, 1965. Barbara attended Rasmussen Business College in St. Paul, completing their accounting program. Barb and Roger raised their family in the twin city area, living the longest period of time in Elk River. She retired in 1996 from her work in the retail and service industries, and following Roger's retirement moved to Hackensack, Minnesota in 2008. Barb was a sports fanatic and especially enjoyed hockey. Above all she had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren, and loved giving them gifts, and spending time with them. She always looked forward to Florida vacations and spending her birthday, and mother's day on the beach where many special family time memories were made.

Barbara is survived by her husband Roger, children; Troy (Nancy) Loren, Jacqueline (Matt) James, Michelle (Jim) Schlosser, nine grandchildren, one great grandson, father Vincent Schnickels, sisters; Carol (Darle) Sylvester, Mary (Brian) Scanlon, brother Ray (Diane) Schnickels, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her mother Lorraine Schnickels, and granddaughter Janae Grace Loren.

A Memorial Service will be held Friday, October 21, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at Salem Lutheran Church in Longville, Minnesota with Rev. Larry Nelson officiating. A gathering time for family and friends will begin at 1:00 P.M. and continueuntil time of service. The Dennis Funeral Home of Longville assisted the family in making service arrangements.
