Alvin H. Dornquast
b. Nov. 11, 1927 - d. June 8, 2010
Alvin was born November 11, 1927 in Owatonna, Minn., to Herman and Rose (Scholljegerdes) Dornquast. He attended grade school at the country school in Havanna Township, and graduated from Owatonna High School.
On November 10, 1951 he married Agnes "Toots" Pfeifer and they made their home in Owatonna following his time in the military. Alvin served in the U.S. Army in Korea from 1950 to 1952, and was the recipient of a Purple Heart.
During their 24 years in Owatonna Al farmed, did custom combining, and ran Al's Auto Repair Shop. In the mid-1970's the family relocated to Remer and Al continued doing auto and small engine repair. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing and hunting. Al will be remembered as an honest, hard working man with a great sense of humor who would do anything for anyone.
Alvin is survived by one daughter, Linda Ferwerda; two sons, Steven (Rita) Dornquast, and Jeffery (Anna) Dornquast; six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; two great grandchildren; five step-great grandchildren; one sister, Myrtle Bowe; one brother, Herbert (Shirley) Dornquast, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Agnes, one step-granddaughter, and two brothers.
A family service was held Monday, June 14, 2010 at the Dennis Funeral Home in Longville with Fr. Joseph Sirba officiating.
Interment with military honors was at Fairview Cemetery in Remer.
