Alverna was born on July 1, 1923, in Inguadona Township, Cass County, Minnesota, the daughter of Charles and Anna (Coenen) Slagle. She grew up near Longville and graduated from Longville High School on May 29, 1942. She remained in the Longville area and on January 22, 1946 she was united in marriage to Edward Folwick. To this union four children, Eloise, Roger, Terri and Susan, were born. She farmed alongside her husband near Longville. Following Ed's death on May 2, 1962, she moved to California for a year before returning to Minnesota. In 1965, the family moved to Minneapolis where she worked at Litton Industries and Advanced Engineering.
On November 29, 1980, she was united in marriage to Robert Trousil in St. Paul. They lived in the metro area and following their retirement they moved to Hackensack in the early 1990's. In 1998 they moved to Alexandria and since 2010, Alverna has been a resident of the Clara City Care Center. Robert preceded her in death on February 25, 2016.
Surviving are her children: Eloise (and Ron) Lindblom of Maynard; Roger (and Suzanne) Folwick of Signal Hill, CA; Terri (and Kurt) Zuehlke of Minnetonka; Susan (and Jan) Snavely of Clara City; six grandchildren: Ronald Theresa (and Mike), Edward (and Janell), Michael, John (and Kjersti), and Margo; 18 great grandchildren and 13 great, great grandchildren. Also surviving is her sister-in-law, Helen Slagle of Longville.
Besides her parents and husbands, Edward and Robert; she was preceded in death by six brothers and five sisters.[[In-content Ad]]
