Albert Bruce Yngve

  Albert Bruce Yngve, age 92, of Remer, Minnesota passed away July 10, 2021 after a brief illness. He is survived by his daughter, Jill Yngve Nadeau (Scott) and many close family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Anton and Esther Yngve, and brother, John Yngve (Carrie).

      Albert was born on February 19, 1929 in Thief River Falls, Minnesota and he graduated from Saint Louis Park High School in 1947. In 1949, he and his brother John were partners in the iconic Pylon Drive-in, located on Highway 12 across from the family home. Albert proudly served his country in the United States Army state-side during the Korean War as an Investigator in the Counter Intelligence Corp.

   For post-secondary education, he attended Gustavus Adolphus College, the University of Minnesota and he received a Juris Doctor degree from Minneapolis College of Law, later known as William Mitchell School of Law.  Together, he, his parents and brother John, all attorneys, practiced law at Yngve and Yngve, St. Louis Park’s first law firm. In the 1970’s he turned his focus to small business ownership and established Travel Specialists, Incorporated.

   There are many accomplishments that Albert was proud of, but extremely humble about: he tried a personal injury case in Montana that resulted in the largest sum ever awarded to an injured party up until that time, he received a trademark for an “Idle Fastener”, a car accessory that would keep a car running and warm in winter, he was instrumental in forming a partnership that helped to establish the Luce Line Recreational Trail and he spent many years volunteering with the St. Louis Park Rotary and taking trips to Santa Barbara, Honduras, to help with the installation of a water system for the local hospital.

   Albert spent the last 22 years in retirement living at his lake home in Remer, MN. He was a kind and fun-loving guy who made hundreds of friends of all ages and with whom he enjoyed his many passions – golf, hunting, fishing, travel, sailing and watching his beloved Minnesota sports teams, especially the Twins, Vikings and Minnesota Gopher Football team. 

   Albert was a master storyteller with an infectious, hold-his-belly laugh and he always had a grin on his face, which is why a Celebration of Life has been chosen to remember him. It will be held on Thursday, July 22, 2021 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. with an hour-long remembrance beginning at 5:00 p.m. at Golden Valley Golf and Country Club (7001 Golden Valley Rd., Golden Valley, MN 55427). A private committal ceremony will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery on September 1, 2021. Memorials may be directed to the St. Louis Park Historical Society or The Animal Humane Society in Golden Valley.
