Cass County Board: New economic development policy mirrors state laws
WALKER -- The new Cass County economic development policy the commissioners adopted Tuesday, Sept. 3, relies heavily on state statutes.

It does not allow any tax abatements in areas of the county in a tax increment financing district.

Cass County Board: Commissioners eye no more than 3% tax levy increase for 2020
WALKER -- Cass County commissioners Tuesday, Sept. 3, set the county's 2020 preliminary tax levy at 3.4% above the 2019 levy, but with the stipulation the citizen budget committee must cut that increase to no more than 3% before the board sets the final levy in December.

Cass County Board: Leech Lake River watershed plan comes with $191K price tag
THUNDER LAKE TOWNSHIP -- Receiving public input, researching and drafting the Leech Lake River One Watershed One Plan cost a total of $191,001.45.

Cass County Board approved the final $13,426 payment Tuesday, Aug. 20, during its meeting at Thunder Lake Town Hall.

RESPEC of Rapid City, S.D., prepared the plan now known as Leech Lake River Comprehensive Plan.

WALKER -- Cass County has sold 327.48 acres on 37 land parcels valued at $515,785 so far this year.

That includes 13 parcels sold over the counter at the land department office in Backus and another 24 parcels sold at a July 11 annual auction.
