6/2/2020 4:05:00 PM Longville Library programming and services
For the time being, The Margaret Welch Memorial Library building along with the other eight Kitchigami Regional Library branches will continue to be closed to the public. The region and staff are continuing to work on the planning phases of re-opening with modified access. Be encouraged that in the meantime, the Longville Library staff is available during regular open hours of Tues/Thur/Sat 10-2 and Wed/Fri 1-5 to assist patrons with requests and curbside pick up.
To request materials, patrons may use the online catalog at krls.org or call the library at 218-363-2710 or email the library at email@example.com. Please provide your library card number for requests and check-outs. For patrons that usually find their items by browsing the shelves, with advance notice, staff can pull together in-house items and notify you when they are ready for pick up.
After patrons have been notified that their materials are ready for pick up, drive in to the designated curbside lane in front of the library and call the library and provide your library card number. Your materials will then be checked out to you and passed through the drive through window on the north end of the building. Pick up appointments can be scheduled in advance if a patron is unable to call from the parking lot. All material returns should be placed in the drop box at any time. For everyone's safety, all KRLS branch locations are quarantining all materials for 72 hours prior to being checked in.
Dig Deeper; Read, Investigate, Discover is the summer kid's reading program theme at the Longville Library. Kids and teens are invited to participate beginning June 2nd through August 15th. Summer reading programs at the library encourage kids and teens to keep their reading and comprehension skills strong by reading their choice of books throughout the summer. It's a fun way to do it because kids can earn prizes in the process for every four hours of reading they accomplish. Reading time is simply tracked on a reading log provided by the library. Kids may also keep active and creative this summer with "Discovery Activity Packs" and "Dig Deep Into Crafts". Discovery Activity Packs are activity kits that can be picked up at the library beginning Tuesday of each week. Kids tally each completed activity on a log provided by the library and after the specified number of activities may come to the library drive through and pick up their prize. "Dig deep into crafts" are grab and go craft kits available each Friday for pick up through the drive through Library window. All programming is free of charge and prizes and kits are available while supplies last.
If you have company for the week or weekend and are planning a boat trip and are in need of children's life jackets, the library offers infant and children's size life jackets to check out with your library card for a one week checkout period. Reservations are accepted by calling the library.
Wireless access continues to be available outside the library for your internet needs.
The Longville Library continues to receive new materials regularly. Watch for the latest authors and new publications in regular print, large print, dvd and audiobook on cd. Patrons may search the online catalog or view the featured lists tab within the KRLS catalog.
For the patrons that participated in the adult Snow Time to Read winter reading program, we realize that due to the required library closing, many of our patrons were unable to pick up their prizes for reading their 15 books between Jan 1st and Mar 31st. This year, patrons could pick up a prize for every five books they read, have their choice of a Snow Time to Read logo coffee mug or beverage bottle for completing the 15 books and have the option of entering a drawing for either a canvas Snow Time to Read tote bag or a Snow Time to Read soft fleece zip up hoodie in either S/M/LG. Simply show us your completed reading log at the drive through window and pick up your prizes while supplies last.
