11/19/2019 2:48:00 PM Dear Prospective Santa... Gifting programs for local children for Christmas
Christmas is the 'most wonderful time of the year.' However, some children aren't able to experience the joy of holiday cheer without generous donations from caring people. Local organizations and businesses are sponsoring and hosting gift-giving programs for children, and are asking for your help in giving this Christmas. Giving opportunities are available at the following locations:
Longville - Longville Area Women of Today's annual Toys for Kids Christmas drive is asking for donations. Monetary donations of any size may be dropped off at Longville's First National Bank branch anytime, or mailed to LAWOT "Toys for Kids" PO Box 293 Longville, MN 56655.
Donations of new, unwrapped toys, cloths, personal care items for teens, hats and mittens, outdoor gear and sporting goods, for children ages birth - 17 may be dropped off at First National Bank no later than Monday, December 9.
Families wanting to sign up for this program may get registration forms at First National Bank and must be completed in person and left at the bank before Friday, December 6.
Copies of forms or forms received in the mail will not be accepted.
Remer - Past, present and new contributors are encouraged to begin thinking about
Northland Family Center's "Toys for Kids" event. There is a volunteer committee of staff and community members that will brighten
Christmas for local kids. Because of your generous hearts, you are all a "Special Santa" to these kids.
Continued contributions provide toys for kids of Remer, Boy River, Federal Dam, Outing and Swatara and are greatly appreciated.
No matter the size of your donation, it will allow area children to have a better Christmas!
Special Santas: please make checks payable to "Toys for Kids" and send to Northland Family Center, PO Box
304, Remer, MN 56672.
All contributors are listed in NFC's publication.
If you wish to remain anonymous, please make a note on your donation.
Registration forms may be obtained from the Family Center and must be received by November 20th. Pick up will be December 16, 17 and 18. Please call 218-566-3636.
Hackensack/Backus - The Hackensack Chamber of Commerce will again be hosting "The Children's Giving Tree" for Christmas this year. If you, or someone you know, are in need of gifts for Christmas, please call Theresa at (218) 820-0790 with the following information. All requests have to be in by Friday November 22nd. There are no specific qualifications for this program, but it's requested that recipients of the "Giving Tree" not be on any other area lists, so all in our community and surrounding communities, who need help, can be helped.
1. Full name, address, and phone number of Parent(s)
2. First name of children along with their age (0-17) and their gender
3. Wish list of items each child would like
4. Clothing sizes
Gift pick up day will be: Monday, Dec. 16th between 5 -7 p.m. at the Hackensack Chamber of Commerce building. If you are unable to pick up gifts at that time, please call (218) 820-0790 to make other arrangements. A reminder call will be given to all recipients the week before the pickup date.
This year the "Giving Trees" will be located in Hackensack at: Hackensack Do It Best Hardware, Mark's Market, Swanson's Bait, and Southside Fuel Plus and in Backus at the American Legion and Godfrey's. Please find it in your heart to stop in and pick a name off the tree for those less fortunate. Anyone wishing to make a monetary or toy donation can drop it off at any of the mentioned businesses or the Hackensack Chamber building by December 13th.
Every Child deserves to have a Merry Christmas! Thank you and God Bless all this Holiday Season.
