Ghouls and ghosts of all ages will be lurking across the North Lakes area for Halloweekend. Area communities have planned safe Halloween trick-or-treating events for the kids, as well as spooky, kooky parties for the adult crowd.
Kick off Longville's Halloween celebration at Camp Olson's SPOOKtacular event! Halloween games begin at 5:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26. Camp Olson, Longville Chamber and local service clubs offer a safe and fun place for area children to enjoy delicious treats and more. Bring a food shelf item to donate.
For those planning to partake in Longville's adult festivities head on down to the Docksider. The party begins at 8:00 p.m. with free Juke Box tunes! Stick around for drink specials, costume contest, games and prizes.
Gory gremlins can fly to BirchWood Char House for freaky fun "Let's Make a Deal style" on Friday, Oct. 25. Dress to impress and come win some awesome prizes or maybe even score yourself a sweaty gym sock! Music by
Dr Rock will follow the games.
Saturday, Oct. 26 from 11 a.m. - noon you can take the kiddies over to Bear Pause theater . There will be hot dogs, chips, games, prizes, goodies and lots of fun.
Festivities in Backus begin at American Legion Post 368 Saturday, Oct. 26, from 11:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. for kids 12 and under. Kids get to participate in pumpkin decorating, style show, ring toss, bean bag throw and a fish pond! There will be prizes for each event and a complimentary lunch.
Return to the Legion at 8:00 p.m. for potluck hors d'oeuvres. Freaky-fun events begin at 9:00 p.m. featuring free valued customer and cash drawings! The pumpkin weight-guessing winner will receive a $25 club certificate. The two contest pumpkins are on display in the Legion foyer. Winners do not need to be present!
The costume contest will follow with the first prize winner getting a $100 cash prize, second place receives a $50 club certificate, and third place receives a $25 club certificate.
Those attending are asked to consider a donation to area food shelves and bring a snack dish, but it is not required.
The seveth annual "Trunk or Treat" event returns this Halloween, Thursday, Oct. 31, at the Northland School front parking lot from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m.!
In addition to frightening fun, there will be hayrides, face painting, jumpy house and food! Dress to impress as prizes for the best costume and best decorated trunk too will be picked!
Come as skin and bones, as the Senior class is serving yummy food for a free will donation!

The Cass County Sheriff's Office seventh annual Trick or Treat event will be held Halloween night at Cass Co. Sheriff's Office parking lot across from Dairy Queen.
Receive a Trick or Treat bag with coloring books, safety tips and treats! Visit with Sheriff Tom Burch and staff from 4:30 p.m. until 7 p.m.
Make sure to keep your broomstick out and fly over to the Pickled Loon in Emily Friday, Nov. 1. DJ Donny G will start the action at 7 p.m. There will be drink specials all night and prizes will be awarded at 10 p.m. for best costumes. Come on out for the "Boos" and stay for the "Booze."
There will be multiple opportunities to be scared out of your wits by things you won't be expecting!
