7/19/2019 3:21:00 PM Emily United Methodist Church hosts concert and community picnic Aug. 1
Emily United Methodist Church again welcomes the Jumpin' Jehosafats in concert on Thursday, August 1, at 6:00 p.m., following a 5:00 Free Community Picnic in the church yard. The public is invited to enjoy a spirit-filled evening of food and fellowship with friends, plus this energetic combo playing Dixieland, jazz and gospel music. The group is currently on their 2019 annual "world tour of northern Minnesota."
The Jumpin' Jehosafats, together since 1985, have played over seven hundred benefit concerts in the Midwest and Caribbean. Proceeds from the free will offering at this concert will benefit the Emily Food Shelf. To date, they have helped raise close to $500,000 for United Methodist related ministries such as Operation Classroom, United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR), and many other ecumenical causes such as Habitat for Humanity and disaster relief.
The band's philosophy can be summed up in the words of one of their leaders when he says, "I believe God wants us to have fun. We're designed to laugh and sing and dance. That's one of the ways God lifts our spirits. It's a way of remembering that the world is not on our shoulders, but that God is in charge."
The church is located across from the Emily Post Office, just west of the intersection of Highway 6 and Co. Rd 1.
Everyone invited. Bring your chair or blanket and bug repellent! Rain location: Indoors at Emily United Methodist Church. Call Judy at 218-546-3770 for further information.
