1/25/2019 2:18:00 PM Ongoing drug investigation results in arrest/confiscation of drugs
Sheriff Tom Burch reports that the Cass County Sheriff's Office and members of the Paul Bunyan Drug Task Force recently worked cooperatively on an ongoing investigation, with the arrest of an Anoka woman, Laura Losh-Stangel, age 48. Due to the ongoing investigation, Stangel was the subject of a traffic stop by a Minnesota State Patrol Trooper on US Hwy 169 in Mille Lacs County. K-9 searches of the exterior of the vehicle lead to the confiscation of a quantity of methamphetamine and marijuana. Stangel was transported to the Mille Lacs County Jail pending formal charges.
Investigators are confident that the narcotics in Stangel's possession were bound for Cass County and the Leech Lake Indian Reservation for further distrib ution. Cass County Investigators were assisted in this investigation by Leech Lake Tribal Police, Paul Bunyan Drug Task Force, Mille Lacs County Sheriff's Office, Mille Lacs Tribal Police and the Minnesota State Patrol, as well as other law enforcement agencies throughout the State.
