1/25/2019 2:10:00 PM Tax help offered to low to middle income families and seniors
Volunteer tax-aides with the AARP will be preparing income tax forms, rent credit and property tax refund forms for low- to middle-income people with special emphasis for those older than 60 years.
This is a free service for those eligible.
Taxpayers need to bring the following information:
1099-SSA - social security benefits
W-2 - wage statement from each job
W-2G - gambling winnings
1099-R - retirement plan
1099-INT - interest
1099-DIV - dividend
1099-B - sale of stock ( have the cost basis for the stock sold)
1099-G - unemployment income
1099-MISC - other income
Income statements from other sources (SSI, workers' compensation, general assistance, etc.)
Property tax statement or certificate of rent paid
Donations to charities; medical expenses; property taxes; mortgage interest; other items if itemizing
1095-A, 1095-B, or 1095-C - health coverage statements (if received from health insurance company). The Affordable Care Act requires everyone to have health insurance. Those with Medicare, Social Security Insurance, or Medicaid are covered.

All taxpayers must be present and remain present while the tax return is completed.
Everyone MUST BRING a picture ID, social security card, last year's tax return, and routing number and account number for a checking or savings account if direct deposit is desired.
The AARP tax preparation sites are:
Hackensack: The Hub (formerly the Senior Citizens Center). Wednesdays, February 6 - April 10; 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. First come - First served!
Longville: Salem Lutheran Church. Thursdays, February 7 - April 11; 8:30 a.m. - 11 a.m. by appointment only; 11 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. walk-ins. For appointments call Ron - 218-675-6532
Remer: The Old Village Hall - 8 Second Avenue. Tuesdays, February 5 - April 9; 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. First come - First served!
