Why Penguin Plunge at Back to Hack on January 19?

Long winters in northern Minnesota have made us very creative, especially when it comes to having fun on the ice and snow. In Hackensack that means Back-to-Hack weekend and the 10th Annual Penguin Plunge on January 19, 2019.

People often ask, "Why would you ever plunge into a cold lake in January? Are you crazy?"

In northern Minnesota we say, "Nah, it's good for you! We're just having fun!!"

Here are some other wonderful answers to "Why Plunge?"

1. Weather is always Great.

2. T-shirts are Awesome.

3. Impress Your Friends.

4. It builds Character.

5. Adds interest to your Resume.

6. Huge Rewards-supporting the programs that help people in our community.

7. Superb Selfie Opportunity.

8. Test your personal limits-mind and body.

9. Invitation to the After-Party on Sunday, Dec 20th at 1 PM with awards and discounted food and drinks at Birchwood Char House

AND MOST IMPORTANT ...

10. Your Parents would be Proud of You!

Starting this year, the Penguin Plunge event supports the Hackensack Area Fire & Rescue Department and Faith in Action for Cass County. Hackensack Area Fire & Rescue Department and Faith in Action for Cass County are local volunteer programs that help people in the greater Hackensack Lakes area (Fire & Rescue) and throughout Cass County (Faith in Action) regardless of age, income, race or ethnicity. They are here to help when people need it. Challenge your friends and family to take the Plunge or sponsor a Team and support these volunteer programs.

Penguin Plunge registration forms are found at your local businesses or you can go online to register or to donate to your favorite team. Teams are encouraged to set a goal to raise money either to jump, OR NOT to jump into Birch Lake just off the city park in Hackensack. Go to www.penguinplunge.us to register, sponsor, or get more information on the Penguin Plunge or to www.hackensackchamber.com for more on Back to Hack during January 18-20, 2019.

So for the Penguin Plunge - January 19, 2019 - register to Jump, form a Team, donate to support someone who is jumping OR NOT jumping!! And come to Back-to-Hack to see all the fun. By being there, you will help these organizations continue to be "The best that they can be."
