2018 Job Fair April 3 at WHA High School

Looking for full-time, part-time or seasonal employment opportunities? Maybe you are retired but still want to contribute to the marketplace? If so, mark your calendars to attend the 2018 Job Fair April 3 at WHA High School.

This event is for anyone - whether looking for a first job, a change of careers, a professional position, or part time or seasonal work.

The Job Fair will be held from 3:30-7 p.m. at the WHA High School Gym, 301 Fourth St., Walker. The event brings together job seekers and employers from the Walker, Hackensack, Akeley and Longville areas. Job opportunities will include sales, service, skilled and unskilled labor, health care, mechanical, bookkeeping, information technology, clerical, management, trainees and more.

In 2016 and 2017 more than 40 local businesses attended the Job Fairs, interviewed applicants and often hired new employees.

Job skills coaches will be available, upon request, for face-to-face consultations with job-seekers and to offer help with a job application or resume. The coach will discuss an applicant's current and past job skills, interests and concerns. They will also assist by providing a list of businesses at the Job Fair and the typical positions that may be available now or in the future. After a little conversation and encouragement, job-seekers often feel better prepared to speak with prospective employers.

The Leech Lake, Hackensack and Longville Chambers of Commerce, Walker Rotary Club, Cass County Economic Development Corporation and community volunteers are working together to provide this valuable opportunity to both businesses and prospective employees. In addition to these organizations, the Job Fair is made possible by contributions from Bank Forward, First National Bank North, Thrivent Financial, Leech Lake Gaming and NEI Bottling.

The 2018 Job Fair will be promoted through news releases and advertising in area newspapers, on TV and radio, on Facebook, blogs, websites, posters, highway banners, electronic signs, etc., and direct contact with area colleges and high schools. Walker, Hackensack, Akeley, Laporte, Park Rapids, Longville, Cass Lake, Nevis, Pine River, Brainerd, Grand Rapids and Bemidji are included in the coverage area.

For more information about the 2018 Job Fair, local businesses and job-seekers should contact the Leech Lake Area Chamber of Commerce at (218) 547-1313.Watch for additional information at
