With hunting season underway, the Department of Natural Resources reminds waterfowl hunters to take precaution against spreading aquatic invasive species.

Without the proper precautions, invasive species such as purple loosestrife, zebra mussels, Eurasian watermilfoil and faucet snails can be transported in boats, decoys or blind material.

15th Annual Hackensack Chainsaw Event returns to City Park
The smell of 2-stroke exhaust, the harmony of a dozen chainsaws and the aroma of fresh cut wood will fill the air at Hackensack's 15th annual Chainsaw Competition. Beginning at 9:00 a.m. Friday, September 27 with artisan booths and food vendors while the chainsaw sculpting begins. This event features 12 skilled carvers over three days.

Cass County to develop updated forest resources management plan
The Cass County Board recently approved a contract to develop a 10-year update to the county's forest resource management plan. The plan will address the 255,000 acres of tax-forfeited land administered by the Cass County Land Department. The updated plan is anticipated to be completed in 2020, following opportunities for public input and a public comment period.
