Ben "Harold" Brown, age 98, of Remer, MN passed away Saturday March 30, 2019 at his home.
Harold was born in 1920 to Ben and Emma Brown in Remer, MN. Harold was raised and attended school in Remer. Harold and Elaine Mack were united in marriage on June 22, 1951 in Remer. Harold served in the U.S. Airforce during WWII obtaining the rank of Sergeant. He was a medic for an Air-Sea Rescue Unit in the Pacific for 3 ½ years.
Harold was one of the original members of the Remer Ambulance Service and was the first to take the 81-hour EMT course offered at Grand Rapids Hospital, receiving his National EMT Registry Certification in 1975. Harold was one of the cornerstone disciples at the United Church of Christ/Remer Congregational Church.
Preceding him in death are his parents; daughter, Susan Stueve; brothers, Ralph and Emmett Brown; and sister, Myrtle Brown.
Harold is survived by his wife of 67 years, Elaine; daughter, Nancy (Steve) Demmer; sons, Robert (Paula) Brown, Gerald (Susan) Brown; Neil Brown and Laura; son-in-law, Mike Stueve; sister-in-law, Joyce Brown; nine grandchildren and one step-grandchild; nine great grandchildren; and special friends, Dean and Deb Engen.
Memorials to Itasca County Hospice Foundation.
Visitation will be on Saturday, May 25, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Remer Congregational Church in Remer, MN followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Bruce Pound will officiate. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery in Remer, MN.
