Storm offense on track, top Nighthawks 24-14

The Hill City-Northland Storm hosted the Nighthawks of Northeast Range (Babbit) Friday night under the lights. Starting quarterback Cameron Wake played his best game of the season, posting three for five passing for 44 yards. The Storm spread the offense well with Colton Rabey, two for five with 68 yards passing and a touchdown; Dane Sepin carried the ball 14 times for 92 yards and a TD; James Kuhlmann had six touches for 52 yards, a reception for 50 yards and a rushing TD to go with a receiving TD; Spencer Procopio carried the ball five times for 19 yards; Vinny Ruschmeier, three carries and 27 yards; Johnathon Gowell, two catches for 36 yards and Tucker Holm one reception for 18 yards.

Defensively the Storm held the Nighthawk offense at bay allowing only a pair of TDs in the contest.

Sepin had six solo stops and 11 assists; Kuhlmann posted three with 10 assists; Ruschmeier had two with 12 assists and a pick; Holm, three solos, eight assists and a fumble recovery; Henry Moes, a pair of tackles and nine assists; Rabey, 11 assists and Lucas Daugherty, 10 assists.

"Every player stepped up and played the best game we have played this year," commented Head Coach Adam Johnson.

"Dutch Ammerman started at center for us due to an injury and played a great game. Our offensive line made holes for the running game all night. As a coach, I couldn't ask for a better effort from our young team and we hope to build on this victory."

Next week the Storm travel to Lake of the Woods, then it's back home to take on Silver Bay on Oct. 6th then Littlefork-Big Falls at Hill City on Oct. 13th.
