2018 preliminary levy, tax rate increase over 2017
WALKER-Cass County commissioners Tuesday set the county's preliminary 2018 levy at $22,307,860, or 2.49 percent higher than the $21,766,554 levied for 2017.

The county's tax rate will rise 1.7 percent at that dollar amount to 32.29 percent, up from 31.74 percent this year.

PINE RIVER-Cass County's state payment in lieu of taxes will decrease this year, because the value of state land in the county has decreased.

Assessor Mark Peterson explained to the county board Tuesday, his office is required to reassess these state lands, upon which the PILT is based, every six years.
