"Fall Has It All" returns to the Lakeland Thursday, Sept. 14

The communities of Longville, Hackensack, Remer and Walker invite everyone to celebrate the change of seasons in their joint celebration, "Fall Has It All". This multi-community celebration contains events happening September 14 through September 30.

With the purchase of a Fall Has It All button, the wearer will be entitled to specials and discounts at participating merchants during the days of FHIA. Buttons are available at participating merchants in all four communities. A list of special offers and scheduled events is included with each button.


The celebration begins in Longville with wine and cheese at the Fall Has It All Opening Reception from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. Thursday, September 14, at the Gallery of New Creations Longville Arts Center.

Saturday, September 16, Longville's Annual Oktoberfest all-day celebration returns. Open up the day at Margaret Welch Memorial Library from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with a Book Sale. Visit downtown Longville from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. for arts, crafts and an outdoor music show.

Beginning at 7:00 a.m., the Fall Festival at Salem Lutheran Church. Salem's Bazaar features breakfast with eggs, sausage, bacon, roll and a beverage for $6.50 until 10:00 a.m. Lunch, which will be served from 11:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. includes ribs, beans, cole slaw, bar and a beverage for $8.00. Other items will be available until 3:00 p.m. such as baked goods, jams and jellies, canned goods, Farmer's Market, kitchen items, baby gifts, Christmas items, plants, books, raffle and more!

Another Oktoberfest stop not to be missed at the Docksider parking lot for flavors from Germany from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Docksider's crew will be hosting German Beer Garden, while Longville Lions will serve German-style food such as (the former) Wabedo Inn's Goulash Soup and Frankfurters. Grandma Bettie Jane's Pies made by Mary Etta and family will be available from the Longville Chamber of Commerce. In addition, German Music will be played while arts and crafts can be browsed.

The Art Crate, in conjunction with the Longville Chamber of Commerce, will hold the fourth annual Quick Draw Art Contest sponsored by Tom Kutschied. The event begins at noon at the Art Crate Studio where representatives and contestants are allotted one hour to create their masterpieces. Visit the Oktoberfest dance at the fire hall to participate in voting and silent auctions to benefit local charity organizations.

End your day at the Fire Hall with an Oktoberfest Dinner and Dance, with dinner beginning at 5:00 p.m. Authentic German deliciousness will be served including German sauerkraut and brats, German and domestic beer and homemade German desserts. Live music is provided by Dale Dahmen & the Beats from 6:00 - 11:00 p.m. Oktoberfest games will be held during band breaks. Cover charge of $5 at the door, while kids five and under are free. Oktoberfest is a fundraising event for the Longville Firefighters and Longville Chamber of Commerce.

Return to Longville Sunday, September 17, for Music in the Park from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Salem Lutheran Church featuring the Grand Rapids Area Men's Chorus.


Events begin in Walker Thursday, September 14, at the Green Scene Farmer's Market from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Girl's Night Out runs from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. while anyone can visit Piggy BBQ for Business After Hours at 5:00 p.m.

Runners and supporters will meet 7:30 am Saturday, September 16, registration begins for the North Country Marathon at WHA School. This marathon offers beautiful scenery and diverse trails for participants. Runners can choose to participate in the full-marathon, half-marathon, 10K or a Kids' Fun Run.

Conclude Walker's Saturday at the Northern Lights Event Center with the Walker Rotary Extravaganza beginning at 6 :00 p.m.

Return to the Northern Lights Event Center Sunday, September 17, from 3:00 - 8:00 p.m. for a display of unique crafts and pieces at the Fall Has It All Art Show.

Thursday, September 21, Walker will hold it's weekly Farmer's Market at Green Scene next to Super One Foods from 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Visit the 49th Annual North Cass County Ducks Unlimited Banquet at 5:00 p.m. at Moondance Event Center. For ticketing information, visit

Walker wraps up Fall Has It All Saturday, September 23 with Northern Lights Car Show sponsored by KK Radio Network & Northern Lights Casino from 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.


Fall Has It All festivities kick off in Remer Saturday, September 16. Beginning at 10:00 a.m. is a free Bluegrass Presentaiton by Dick Kimmel at Remer Centennial Library. Also beginning at 10:00, the Icecube has free appraisals of antiquities until 2:00 p.m.

Be sure to visit the Bigfoot Music Festival on Mill Street. Dick Kimmel, Corey Medina & Brothers, White Iron Band and many more, along with food vendors, beer tent and a Yeti Cooler raffle!

Beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, September 17, Bigfoot Music Festival will continue on Mill Street.

Remer's Fall Has It All festivities conclude Saturday, September 30 with Kids Day and Fall Fest Celebration at the Remer Deopt and Library author talk and book Sale. Also included in the fun will be "Big Foot" Pine Derby Car races, games, prizes, food, surprises for all ages, pumpkin carving and a bake sale!

From 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. at Remer Depot & Library, kids may participate in Karaoke. After singing your hearts out, at 2:00 p.m. stick around for a live auction for hand decorated wooded scarecrows, created by Northland School students. Proceeds go to the Howard Prushek Scholarship Foundation.

While the kids are playing, check out Remer's Sidewalk Sales from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.


Fall fun in Hackensack begins Thursday, September 14 at American Legion Post 202 with Taco Thursday and meat raffle at 5:00 p.m., and again the following week, Thursday, September 21.

Hackensack's 13th annual Chainsaw Competition begins Friday, September 22 at 9:00 a.m. and continues until Sunday, September 24. For more information, see next week's edition of Press-Citizen.

Hackensack ends Fall Has It All on Thursday, September 28 with Taco Thursday and meat raffle at 5:00 p.m. at American Legion Post 202.
