Prevent Child Abuse America (PCA America) announced on September 8th, 2017 that the Health Families America (HFA) affiliate Family Center Home Visiting Program has been accredited as a provider of high quality home visiting services who want to improve their child's health, nutrition and developmental outcomes.

Northland Board Learns about History Grant
Thursday's board meeting was short and sweet with only four board members present. Mike Horn gave a presentation on the Minnesota History Grant that the school has been receiving for the past five years. Northland has been receiving $10,000 per year for History Enrichment costs.

Roy charged in Cass Lake homicide
The Cass County Attorney's Office reports that Brandon Joseph Roy (DOB: 4/25/1993 (24)) has been charged with Count 1: Murder - 2nd Degree - Without Intent - While Committing a Felony; Count 2: Aggravated Robbery-1st Degree; and Count 3: Possess Ammo/Any Firearm - Conviction or Adjudicated Delinquent for Crime of Violence; alleged to have occurred on or about November 12, 2017, in Cass Lake, Minnesota.

Assistance requested with locating individuals in the ongoing homicide investigation that occurred in Cass Lake Nov. 12th
Cass County Sheriff Tom Burch reports that the Cass County Sheriff's Office, Leech Lake Tribal Police Department and the MN Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is requesting assistance from the public with locating three individuals in regards to the ongoing Homicide investigation.

American Legion Auxiliary National Executive Committeewoman and Northwestern Division Leadership Chairman, Shirley Frederick, Second Vice Diana Slinkard, President Bonnie Dupre, and Membership Chairman Nancy Albrecht, members of the Hackensack American Legion Auxiliary Unit #202, attended the 85th Annual Fall Conference held in Willmar, Minnesota, hosted by the Willmar American Legion Family Post #167.
