b. Oct. 18, 1930 d. April 24, 2017

Harry Thomas "Tom" Strandness, 86, of Longville, MN, died peacefully Monday, April 24, 2017 at his home.

Tom was born October 18, 1930 to George and Luella (Dunsmore) Strandness in Olivia, MN. He grew up in Olivia, attending grade school and graduating from high school there. In 1947, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, serving for 21 years. He then became a self-employed carpenter in the Longville area, and also owned and operated Aspen Apartments in Longville. His special interests included making picture frames and loon nests; he was frequently referred to as the "Loon Man." Harry enjoyed fishing and stargazing, and loved NASCAR racing. He is fondly remembered as a quiet, reserved man who always thought before he spoke. He was very well versed and knowledgeable in many subjects.

Tom is survived by son, Mark Strandness of TX; daughters, Sandy (Rusty) Wedemeyer of MO, and Sharon (David) Kozaczka of CT; 10 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; brother, George "Jinx" (Lisa) Strandness of CO; sister, Lois Dunkley of AZ; and special friend, Julia Jones, of Longville.

He was preceded in death by one son, Jesse; and a brother, Gail.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 28, 2017 at the Longville Bible Chapel, Longville, Minnesota. Pastor Duane Brown will officiate and interment will be the Minnesota Veteran's Cemetery, Camp Ripley, Little Falls, Minnesota.

Arrangements are being provided by Dennis Funeral Home/Midwest Cremation Association (www.dennisfuneralhome.com). In lieu of flowers, donations to the ALS Association and The Good Samaritan Hospice of Nisswa, MN would be greatly appreciated.
